Amelia & Brad’s Summer Celebration | Intimate Villa Wedding in Crete

Summer Celebration

Amelia and Brad dreamed of an intimate villa wedding in Crete — a private celebration surrounded by their closest people, under the summer sun. With around 60 guests, the vision was simple, heartfelt, and deeply personal.

The villa they chose was smaller than what we typically work with, but with thoughtful planning, everything came together beautifully. The ceremony took place on the lawn, followed by dinner, cocktails, and dancing — all within the same space, creating a warm and connected atmosphere.

When a Villa Is Booked Without a Wedding Package

One of the biggest challenges of this wedding was that the villa had been booked privately by a couple before hiring us and without prior agreement for hosting events.

Unlike villas that offer dedicated wedding packages, this property had no existing terms for celebrations. When the owners were informed about the wedding plans after the booking, it understandably came as a surprise — leading to multiple last-minute negotiations.

As experienced wedding planners, we often work directly with villa owners in advance, negotiating permissions, sound limits, timings, and logistics. In this case, everything had to be handled from scratch, under time pressure.

After extensive communication, we successfully negotiated permission for the celebration to run until midnight — allowing the couple and their guests to fully enjoy the evening.

Designing a Small Villa Wedding Layout

Despite the challenges, the day flowed seamlessly.

  • The ceremony was set on the lawn

  • The dinner table fit perfectly within the villa grounds

  • The catering team had space to cook on site

  • A mobile bar served cocktails during the ceremony and later moved to the dance floor

  • The DJ setup completed the transition into an intimate evening party

Everything worked — but it’s a perfect example of how professional planning avoids unnecessary stress.

Summer Weddings in Crete: Timing Matters

The 28th of June brought intense summer heat. Amelia and Brad chose to hold their ceremony earlier in the day, with minimal shade.

While beautiful, we always gently advise couples to consider later ceremony times during peak summer months — especially for guest comfort. Shade, timing, and temperature play a big role in creating a pleasant experience for everyone present and best photos too, when the sun starts to move away from its sharp rays of light.

Why Hiring a Wedding Planner Makes a Difference

This wedding is a perfect reminder of why having a planner involved from the very beginning matters.

If we had handled the villa selection and booking, all event permissions, timings, and terms would have been agreed in advance — saving time, stress, and last-minute negotiations.

Our role isn’t just design and styling — it’s anticipating challenges, protecting the couple’s experience, and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes.

Helpful Planning Tips for Villa Weddings in Crete

Can any villa in Crete host a wedding?
Not all villas are licensed or prepared to host events. Always confirm permissions, sound limits, and timings in advance.

Is it risky to book a villa without a wedding planner?
It can be. Without prior agreements, couples may face restrictions or last-minute complications. A planner ensures everything is approved before booking.

What is the best time for a summer wedding ceremony in Crete?
Late afternoon or early evening is ideal during summer months to avoid extreme heat and ensure guest comfort.

How many guests are suitable for a villa wedding?
This depends on the property layout. Smaller villas are ideal for intimate weddings of up to 60 guests with thoughtful planning.
