Sandrine & Jean - Daniel’s vibrant French–Cameroonian wedding in Crete

Discover why hiring an experienced wedding planner in Crete saves time, money, and stress for international weddings.

A Multicultural Destination Wedding Celebration

Crete has long been a meeting point of cultures, making it one of the most beautiful destinations in Europe for international and multicultural weddings. This French–Cameroonian wedding was a perfect reflection of that — vibrant, joyful, deeply rooted in tradition, and centred around togetherness, music, and celebration.

Planning a Destination Wedding in Crete From Abroad

This wasn’t our full planning wedding package from the beginning as we usually have, Sandrine and Jean were organising their wedding themselves from afar thinking that they can manage, but 3 months before the wedding Sandrine asked us to take over— a moment that many international couples recognise when reality meets distance, language barriers, and local logistics.

Why Hiring a Wedding Planner in Crete Matters?

Planning a wedding in another country is not only about organisation — it is about understanding the local market, culture, timelines, and ways of working. Each country functions differently, and Crete is no exception. Vendors, contracts, communication styles, and expectations cannot be approached the same way as back home. Our role as experienced wedding planners in Crete is to translate these differences, saving our couples time, money, and unnecessary stress, while ensuring every element comes together seamlessly.

When planning from afar, without speaking the language or being physically present, it becomes nearly impossible to coordinate vendors, timelines, and last-minute changes without local supervision. Deposits can be paid, assumptions can be made — but without local knowledge, couples risk unexpected situations on the day itself. This is where professional wedding planning becomes not an expense, but a safeguard. With our presence on the ground, we prevent costly last-minute issues, ensure reliability, and manage every moving part with care.

Music, Colour & Cultural Traditions

This wedding was never about perfection — it was about joy. The couple brought their own DJ from France, placing music at the heart of the celebration. The atmosphere was electric: dancing, chanting, spectacular bright outfits, movement, and a strong sense of community surrounded by family and friends. The ceremony was held according to their traditions, officiated by their own priest, honouring their cultural and spiritual roots. Guests were chanting songs through out the ceremony and dancing, while reliving the atmosphere as I’m writing this blog, brings back the goose bumps.

A Cameroonian Tradition Celebrated in Crete

The celebrations continued the following day with a traditional Cameroonian gathering, symbolising the bride’s transition into her new family. Dressed in the colours of her tribe, with beautifully coordinated fabrics worn by all guests, the celebration became a powerful expression of heritage, identity, and unity — all embraced and hosted effortlessly in Crete. It becomes more and more popular to extend a wedding celebration into few days, some due to cultural traditions for some just to spend more quality time with friends and family that comes from all over the world, and we are just truly happy to be part of such moments, while we are planning you are teaching us your ways and it is very inspiring, it is like travelling to different parts of the world without leaving an island.
