Jack & Jerry’s: A Day Full of Beauty, Big Decisions & A Little Weather Drama

Every wedding has its own personality and Jack & Jerry’s special day was no exception.

Set in a gorgeous villa nestled in Chania with the stunning secluded sea view, their destination wedding was as emotionally charged as it was visually stunning. But like many great love stories, this one had a bit of tension: cue the unpredictable, again, weather as May kept truly kept us on our toes.

A Storm on the Horizon… or Not?

Leading up to the big day, the forecast had us watching the skies closely. Thunderstorms, heavy clouds, lightning… we had seen it all during the early part of this season. And trust us, deciding whether to stick with the original venue or move everything to a backup location is never easy—for the couple or for the planners.

In the end, Jack and Jerry chose to trust the process, hold their ground, and stick with the villa they had fallen in love with. And sometimes and we know more than often, the wedding gods show up. While the rest of the island battled the storm, not a single drop touched their celebration. We watched the thunder rumble over the mountains—dramatic, yes—but the skies above us held out just long enough for a perfect wedding to unfold. A little miracle.

New Faces, Fresh Energy: Stepping Outside the Comfort Zone

This wedding was also a chance for us to work with not one, not two, but three new vendors—catering, décor, and bar. As experienced wedding planners here in Crete, we usually collaborate with certain circle of professionals we know inside-out and of course it is easier to know what to expect and how each one works and delivers. There’s a natural rhythm and mutual understanding that comes with that.

But now and then, stepping outside of that comfort zone is exactly what’s needed.

Working with new vendors always brings a little uncertainty. Will they understand the brief? Will the logistics go smoothly? Will they bring the same attention to detail? But here’s the thing: taking that risk often leads to new magic. And in this case, it absolutely did.

We’re big believers in offering our couples a range of vendor options that align with their budget, vision, and priorities. For some, it’s all about décor and music. For others, it’s a minimalist setup with an emphasis on food and drinks. And then there are those who want the full experience—everything from dreamy florals to killer playlists.

Jack and Jerry knew exactly what mattered to them.

The Art of Décor: When the Vision Comes to Life

For these two, décor was top priority. They were drawn to a new vendor we suggested—despite the fact that we hadn’t worked with them before but we’ve already fallen in love with their work via socials so where waiting for the perfect opportunity to work with them. Their aesthetic and creative approach matched perfectly with the couple’s vision, and we just knew it would be the right fit.

And we were right.

The result? A stunningly cohesive and artistic setup that truly spoke for itself. Every floral arrangement, table setting, and design element was carefully thought out and beautifully executed as you can see in the pictures. This is why décor matters. It’s not just visual fluff—it’s part of the mood, the storytelling, the emotional atmosphere of your day.

Catering: A New Experience That Delivered

Next on the list was food. The couple opted to try a new catering company, and while we did notice a few small details that could be improved (hey, that’s how we learn!), the overall experience was spot on. The presentation, the service, the plates and cutlery, the flavours—all absolutely delivered. And most importantly, the guests were happy and well-fed.

It was a great reminder that even with newer vendors, strong communication and flexibility can make all the difference.

The Bar: Cool Drinks, Hot Day

The bar is one of those things that can really make or break a summer wedding in Crete. It’s hot. People are thirsty. And waiting in long queues for a drink? Not ideal.

Choosing a new bar team was a bit of a gamble, but they came through with style. The drinks flowed, the service was friendly, and despite the heat NOT rain, everything ran smoothly. One tip for couples planning a wedding here: don’t underestimate the importance of an efficient, well-staffed bar—especially in the Cretan summer!

Music: When the Dance Floor Never Sleeps

Last but not least: the music. Jack and Jerry went all-in here, bringing in a live musician from the UK for the ceremony and an incredible local DJ for the dance party. And trust us—the dance floor never stayed empty.

Music is one of those elements can easily get underestimated and trying to perhaps save, but when it’s done right, it’s unforgettable. The vibe, the transitions, the crowd energy—worth every penny.

Trust the Process (and Your Planner!)

As planners, our job is to listen—to truly understand your needs, priorities, and wedding style. From there, we build a vendor team that aligns with your vision and helps bring it all to life. And the best results always come from trust. When our couples feel confident in our suggestions and open to new ideas, that’s where the real magic happens.

Jack & Jerry’s wedding reminded us of everything we love about planning destination weddings in Crete—from wild weather twists to bold design choices and brand new vendor relationships. It was heartfelt, beautiful, and uniquely them.
